MATTHEW CORDINER

What role do you play in lead?

I have the privilege of being one of the trustees of LEAD. From first being involved in 2018, taking students through the LEAD program, I was asked in 2023 to play a part in helping guide the future of LEAD for the months and years to come!

Who is your favourite leader?

This is a tricky one as there are lots of leaders I look up to but one person that stands out for me is Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin. He’s someone who exemplifies a culture of creativity and proactive problem-solving that’s not only attributed to his great success in business but also brought out the best in so many of his employees.

Where are you leading?

I currently lead two small businesses, but also spend a lot of time leading within my church, mostly with students!

Why are you excited about working with LEAD?

I’m excited about LEAD because I’ve seen the impact it can make over the past few years. I love the conversations it inspires for young people who have maybe never thought about themselves as leaders before.

What is your advice to a young leader?

My advice to a young leader would be; don’t be afraid to take risks! Now I’m not saying all risks are worth taking but so often we limit ourselves due to fear so I believe that especially whilst you’re young it’s worth trying and allowing yourself to learn from your mistakes!
